In the 'non landscaping world' a rill is a long straight channel eroded by water, in the 'landscaping world' they are a construction, a rill is an attractive water feature that allows water to move in a straight line through the garden or terrace.
Usually very shallow and narrow, rills can fit equally well into a garden area or a hard landscaped area. Used widely to 'lead the eye' to another feature in the garden, they are a very handy landscape design device and also provide a functional element directing rain water to a garden pool or pond
A Current project we are working on is this 40 metre rill at Littlethorpe Manor, Ripon
We have also added to this by producing curved rills which are very attractive and provide designers with plenty of scope to create interesting watercourses
We offer bespoke rills, in various widths and lengths to your requirements, all hand made in our Doncaster engineering workshops. They can be made from any metal as required including stainless steel, corten steel, copper etc,etc
There are many factors to consider when designing rills that will work succesfully and provide interest, together with ease of maintenance, so we advise you call us for an initial discussion
